Glad you are back!

I too have written those letters to my son in boot camp almost four years ago. I hope for a successful graduation for your son.

Blessings to you and your family and new job.

Thank you so much! It's nice to know other people who have gone through sending a child off to the military! It's not for the feint of heart.

Hello! I am glad to see your email in my box.

I took a month off from blogging. I took a month to cut way back on social media. The apps are removed from the cell phone and tablet. I can only take a look from the laptop in the mornings.

I found out several things during this mini break. One is that I had more time to read. Another is I have a better attention span. I also joined the church choir. I'm taking time to rest.

Glad to hear you are implementing changes and doing well.

Annette -- I love hearing all these things you are learning. When others tell me they are taking a break, I'm always wholeheartedly for it! I know that it can help us rest and recharge, and it can also refresh our creativity in important ways. I just need to remember that for myself ... and plan breaks ahead of time instead of taking them as a last resort.

I do wonder ... how will you jump back in? And will it feel like you are giving up other things now?

I blogged about this on The Sunday Salon. I started blogging again over a week ago. I am not adding social media to my iPhone or iPad except for Pinterest. That site seems relaxing. I love the beautiful pictures, recipes, quotes, and other interests. I don't look at social media at all on Sundays. I look at Facebook and Instagram once in the mornings. I don't look at Twitter unless I think the posts are not syncing. I gave up on Goodreads. I will no longer post a review unless I'm reviewing for someone else. As far as the reading challenge at Goodreads, I've exceeded the goal each year. It is no longer a challenge but boring.

I joined the church choir. Bible Study Fellowship starts back next week.

I plan to read more biographies, classics, and other genres. There are multiple stacks of to be read books!

Charity no trophies, yet, but my son's Special Olympics softball team, which I'm coaching, is going for the gold medal this weekend at the SO State softball tournament.

But what I really wanted to pass along was what has happened in my life since your last Wonder Report. I have had two new granddaughters arrive over the course of a three week period in late July - early August. One born to my son and his wife, and the other adopted by my daughter and her husband. The adoption process took 2 1/2 years and included three matches with my daughter where the birth mother changed her mind and decided not to give the child up for adoption. The last one occurred in July one day before the baby was to be born. Although thankful that the mother wanted to keep the child, the emotional ups and downs for my daughter and her husband were difficult. But as we all prayed .... God had plan. After the last adoption fell through, my daughter's name went back on the list of available couples looking to adopt. The day following them placing their name back on the list, they received a call that there was a baby that had just been born. A child born on the day that they had been told by the most recent mother that she had decided to keep her baby. Seven days later my daughter and her husband brought home the baby that was meant for them. Maya Catherine b. 7-12-22.
