As someone who literally likes to hug trees and enjoys learning about and categorizing growing things, this work draws us in by helping us feel as if we are that child, pausing in the breeze, waiting to get closer to this magnificent tree as it transitions to the next season
That phrase "transitions to the next season" feels so appropriate right now in my life ... both as a caregiver and as a parent. I think God uses nature to teach us so much about growth and life and seasons.
Reminds me of a catalpa tree at my grandparents farm, that stood by their farm house. I love the long bean pods- those light strings remind me of the “magical” pods...
The tree looks old, rooted in sadness and strength. The lights could be her memories, pinpricks of hope she shares with the girl. Who planted her? What mystery brought the child here through the hidden hills? I wonder...
Hi Lauren! Congratulations on being selected to receive the Amy Grimes print. If you could please email me your contact into (charity@charitysingletoncraig.com), I'll get it shipped to you! Thanks for your comment! I loved the idea that the lights on the trees might be the tree's memories.
It makes me think of the immensity of God.
Me too. That tree is breathtaking!
I love trees, i love white lights and i love mountains. What's not to love about this?:)
I couldn't agree more.

The girl reminds me of my granddaughter Lily who loves to climb trees and look up in the sky.
A girl who climbs trees is the very best kind of girl! Spirited, adventurous, fearless!
I'm aware of my smallness against the backdrop of creation's beauty. Yet I don't feel vacant, but mysteriously full.
So beautiful, Barb! Your comments here are very similar to Amy's comments about why she painted this piece.

Aren't catalpa trees so magical? I love the idea that the lights in the painting are like the pods.
